What a wonderful return to historical Emerson Pass. We're reunited once again with the Barnes family, Alexander and Quinn along with now seven children. World War I has ended along with the Spanish Flu, and the folks of Emerson Pass have survived both.This book is Josephine Barnes' story. After losing a sweetheart in the war, she has determined that love has passed her by and that she will be a spinster. Enter Phillip Baker and watch things change.One of the things I love about this book, is that the author stayed true to the times. This isn't a bodice ripper, but instead the story of a well brought up young lady who stays true to the rules of romance for that time in history.I also loved being reacquainted with all the characters that I left behind at the end of The School Mistress of Emerson Pass, and seeing how their lives have changed and grown.I am thoroughly enjoying this historical series, and eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.
