Austin, rhino shifter and supervisor at the Paranormal Council goes missing. There's rumors and speculation, but it's Agents Dian and Eagle that are sent out to find answers. Their trail leads them to Arrowtown. A safe place for paranormals.It makes sense a rare shifter would mate with another one. Dian is a gargoyle. Kee is a fox shifter, but only half. Their mating is unexpected. Dian had no idea hearing his mate's laugh would trigger his mating instincts. And from there the gargoyle protect mode gets kicked up a notch. Or ten. Or a hundred. Dian's protection mode is so smothering it impacts their mating. . .. He comes across as out of touch, unable to expresses himself, arrogant, and as the older partner in this mating, he should know better. It's Kee that stands up for their mating, having wisdom beyond his years, and pulls out all the stops. He forgives too easily.The story could've been really cute, especially those shifting to stone moments. Well timed and unexpected, but instead they fell flat. Stone crushing flat. The overall message was accepting others despite their differences, that a community can come together, offering support and safety. And no, the rhino that led Eagle and Dian to Arrowtown was never found. - Dan's Wife I've got just one word - Amazing! This book was so much more than I expected! I'll admit I was a little bummed when I read the blurb and discovered that this book was going to feature two new characters and not one of the ones I'd come to love, but it was absolutely amazing! Kee is the most adorable, upbeat shifter hybrid and Dian compliments him with his serious and more subdued personality. I'm not going to spoil the surprise of what exactly they both are, because it's really something you need to discover with the characters themselves. I will say that, once again, Lisa Oliver has outdone herself in terms of giving us the most unique and special paranormal characters. She literally has the Midas touch, but with words, and I devour everything she puts out. Fated mates, Mpreg, magic and the course of real love, no matter how rocky, are her golden trademarks and I honestly can't recommend this, as well as her other series, enough. The world of Arrowtown is so believable and real that I almost expect to be able to find it on Google maps! I can't wait for future books in this series and all the other HEA's that are out there!
